Project Sunrise: The quest for 20-hour nonstop flights

Project Sunrise is Qantas' ambitious plan to operate the longest commercial flights in history: nonstop from Sydney (SYD) to London (LHR) and New York (JFK). These routes exceed 9,000 nautical miles and require over 20 hours in the air.

The A350-1000 Ultra Long Range

To make these flights possible, Qantas ordered specialized Airbus A350-1000 aircraft with an additional fuel tank. Like the Singapore A350-900ULR, these planes will have a reduced seat count-roughly 238 seats compared to the standard 350-400-to ensure they can carry enough fuel for the extreme distance.

Sunrise flights will represent the "final frontier" of global aviation, where any two cities on Earth can be connected nonstop.
