Dassault — Private Jet
Explore the Falcon 8X's range on the map →The Dassault Falcon 8X can fly up to 6,450 nautical miles (11,945 km) as a ferry flight with no payload. With a full load of passengers and cargo, the range drops to approximately 5,500 nm (10,186 km). At its cruise speed of 480 kt, that's about 13h 26m of non-stop flying at ferry weight, or 11h 28m fully loaded.
The Dassault Falcon 8X is the only three-engine business jet currently in production - a distinction that provides capabilities no twin-engine competitor can replicate. Three Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D engines deliver 6,450 nautical miles of range, but more importantly, the three-engine configuration provides the thrust-to-weight ratio at high altitude and in thin-air conditions that gives the Falcon 8X exceptional short-field performance at airports where twin-engine business jets simply can't operate fully loaded.
The practical consequence: a Falcon 8X can depart Geneva (LSGG) - a challenging airport surrounded by mountains with specific noise abatement procedures - on a full transatlantic mission that would require a twin-engine competitor to either reduce fuel load or increase passenger weight limits. It can operate from Samedan (LSZS) in the Swiss Alps at 5,600 feet elevation on a cold winter day and still reach Dubai nonstop. This combination of range and field performance is unique in the ultra-long-range cabin category, and it's why fractional operators with high-altitude mountain base airports strongly prefer the 8X.
Dassault's fly-by-wire flight controls include a sidestick - borrowed from their Rafale fighter jet program - and an EASy flight management system that reduces pilot workload on long oceanic crossings. The 8X's cabin is narrower than the Global 7500's but longer than most competitors at 13.1 metres of usable length, accommodating three dedicated zones typically configured as a lounge, dining area, and aft cabin with flat beds. The three-engine design remains a niche within a niche, but for operators who encounter it, the performance advantages are genuinely distinctive.
